# The word prescribed in Prescribed TB-500

> Prescribed TB-500: a word with weight — Prescribed TB-500 is my close inspection of published research, not medical advice. Its name puts the substance and its recovery claims under scrutiny.

**Why this name**

A word that sounds settled sits beside a substance whose story is full of unsettled particulars. That friction is the reason for this site.

## A word with weight

Prescribed TB-500 is the website's name. I'm no doctor. This is my close inspection of published research, not medical advice, and there is no prescribing service, shop, shipping desk or appointment booking here.

The word “prescribed” sounds particular: an identified substance, an individual decision, a specified purpose. TB-500's reputation sounds broad. It collects claims about skin, joints, muscle, blood vessels and recovery under a name that often borrows the full protein's experiments. I wanted to press on the friction between that precise-sounding word and those expansive claims.

The [horse analytical paper](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23084823/) is an unlikely but satisfying starting point. It asks what the substance is. Before deciding what to make of a recovery story, that seems a useful thing to have settled.

## There is a difference between a fuss and a distinction

I initially regarded the full-protein-versus-fragment problem as the easiest objection in the file. The [actin-domain mouse wound study](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/12581423/) made the objection less tidy. A smaller peptide reproduced some repair activity. Dismissing it merely because it is smaller would be as careless as assigning it every result obtained with the parent.

What convinced me to stay with the subject was [regeneration without a significant strength gain](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20126456/). The fibers and the function did not tell the same story. That is more interesting than deciding in advance whether the entire field deserves enthusiasm or scorn.

The awkward particulars are the part I value most. A rat wound can be encouraging. An intravenous human safety study can be useful. A fragment can have a plausible working region. None needs to become a sweeping promise to be worth thinking about.

I want the next convincing fragment study to connect a well-characterized substance with a meaningful functional outcome and adequate safety follow-up. Until such evidence exists, the [missing human half-life](/dosage) and the [unsettled compounding entry](/legal-status) remain missing and unsettled. The name of this site cannot fill either gap.

A developer-console reading of the TB-500 record — the actin-binding fragment logged against its studies, with the full-length thymosin beta-4 caveat flagged in every diff, no clinic behind the terminal and nothing here prescribed or sold.
